Hey!
My name is Tom. I've been playing D&D off and on since 1980 (I'm on the older side of things at 64) and DMing since jumping into 5e at the end of 2019. I have dabbled (playing) other games (Pathfinder, Champions), but I always come back to D&D. Ran a few campaigns in my homebrew world of Dragon's Mere (a tribute to the world I started playing in back at the start of all this), but all online since the people I knew were scattered all over the US (I'm in NH and they were in AZ, GA, NC, PA, and CA). Used Roll20 at first and then moved on to self hosting Foundry and using Zoom for communication (I need to see faces, not just hear voices). Recently found an in-person group at a library and started up a campaign there, again in Dragon's Mere. Planning another group in the same area in NH, but will be running through AAW's Rise of the Drow campaign (I LOVE Drow and the Underdark).

Anyway, my favorite dice are the good old percentiles! Nothing quite like hitting 100!

Howdy y'all!

I'm Rob. I've been playing since the Classic Traveller LBBs came out in the 70s. I think I GMed from the first game I played as there were not many RPG players in those days. I did play a bit of everything from AD&D through 3.5, but marriage, children, and RL generally kept me busy on other adventures. Fast forward past Y2K and the rise to supremacy of D&D. I dabbled a bit with 5e as a player, but couldn't really get myself interested in a pure fantasy environment. Star Wars Saga was a brief fling, then Paizo released Starfinder and I've been GMing ever since I discovered it. Ran an online campaign on Roll20 for a couple of years before the Rona made it fashionable (it's still running, now on Foundry). and started a face-to-face campaign at my FLGS just as everything shut down. It went online also until the store reopened, and we're now comfortably into a new sandbox campaign . I've GMed a short Blades in the Dark campaign and looked at Scum and Villainy with longing. For now, Starfinder is my game. For some reason d8s are my favorite dice.

Greetings all. I am not a pro, but a good dm per the reports of my players. I've succeeded at some great one shots, and failed at larger scale organized play and I've learned lessons from both.

Thank go out to the the J and J pros that help us with their expeience.

Hello new forum members! Welcome!

Please leave a reply and introduce yourself.

Where in the world are you? What game(s) do you GM? How long have you been GMing? What's your favourite sided-die?
Good Day,

I am currently residing in the Texas of Canada, near the Oilers and the Elks, I enjoy playing and GMing TTRPGs. I first played in the 80's. I got distracted by life-stuff in the 90s and only came back to it in the last 5 years. So my actual RPG experience is not as vast as my ancient stature might imply. I only started GMing when the Pandemic hit and everyone went inside. I'm currently running a 2-year strong 5e campaign using Roll20 and a Discord Server. I've played in a few other systems. I quite like the Genesys system but haven't been brave enough to delve into GMing anything but 5e and fun some one-page RPGs.

Favorite sided die? I love me a tangible, clacky D20 but I recently have a new favorite. After a d100 roll on a wild-magic table had a character teleport up to 100 feet in a random direction, I asked them to roll another D100 followed by a 360-sided die! VTT's make such a thing possible and their palpable uncertainty of what that roll was going to bring into their world will always make the unexpected D360 my favorite.

Hello, my name is Kevin McG and I reside in Southern Illinois. I've run a variety of games over my allotted time here on Earth (Robotech, Heroes Unlimited, 1st & 2nd Editions of D&D, Call of Cthulhu), but am currently running 5e. I've been playing or running games since (GASP) the 6th grade (DOUBLE GASP) 36 years ago (!?!). My favorite die is the 20-sided. It's the one that's most likely going to make those who don't play TTRPGs go 'What the heck is that?'

"Well..." I would always reply then. "Let me tell you about this game we're playing..."
Happy Birthday, Kevin! I hope you have / had a wonderful day!

Steve Devine here, and I go by "scdevine".

I have DMmed ADD1 for five years of weekly sessions, and Classic Traveller (science-fiction role play) for seven.

Not running anything at the moment.

Hi Steve! Nice to have you. What‘s the reason you don‘t run? Time and general life, not finding a group, or do you mean you play but not GM yourself?

Hello Folks, My name is Bruce I live in Woonsocket, Rhode Island in the United States. I have been playing and dming since 1983. I love to GM but it will take a while to get used to using technoly for gamemastering. Although I did use a Dungeons and Dragragons program in Basic back in high school. Feel free to drop me a line if you want.

Hey there to everyone, My name is Diego but I love to be called Sirante. I am not from U.S. so please bear with me.
I am from Perú, Lima and I've been Dungeon Master since high school, tho, I only have roughly 25 hours of continuous real play, 6 in virtual and almost 30 in worldbuilding. I am currently 18 years old so I might be one of the most young dungeons masters around here and I a looking forwward into improving in this game that I love with my soul. Maybe we can chat, treat me as you child if you want, my LGS's owner does and feels nice to have someone to refer as your principal source of confidence in your hobby.

O my little elven skull,
Tell me, what will next year bring to me?
Will I be an orcish thrall?
Or will I be like a rabbit free?

Hi everyone. My name is Henrique. I'm from Brazil, but I moved overseas to Spain. 42 yo, playing since 14.
Not running anything at the moment, mainly due to overcoming a language barrier (I speak basic Spanish) and the trouble finding a group in Asturias....
Playing PF2 with a brazilian group @ Foundry.
Hope to restart GMing soon.

Hey, all! I'm Jeff and I first discovered RPGs in the form of the WhiteBox set (well, actually, a pirated photo copy I got from some college students when I was a freshman in HS ca '76) and played/GM'd until about '88 when I left my station in Germany.
I've been wanting to get back in, particularly since I've kept world building the whole time. Not building quite so much since I've been trying numerous options for digitizing everything (tons of paper notes/maps, digital docs, pinterist, yt links, a bazillion bookmarks...) I *like* paper since that's what I cut my proverbial teeth on but I prefer the incredible convenience/search abilities of the digital...so decisions, decisions.

Just to stir the pot a bit, what are all y'alls take on WotC's OGL 1.1 "preview"? And what do you think you'll do in response?

WotC's OGL 1.1
Can't one use an older version of the OGL and associated content? OK, you won't be able to use new WotC stuff released under OGL1.1 and collect $750k or more with crowdfunding projects. OTOH, I never was a fan of WotC's stuff. I prefer Paizo when D&D is concerned.

Thanks, Johnn! I've been trolling your site and enjoying your emails for a couple of years now. Since I recently started dialysis, I'm seeing the writing on the wall regarding employment (and I'll be able to transition to SSDI/Medicare before too long when the inevitable happens) and I'm looking at getting back into GMing/gaming. I started in '76 with a pirated (didn't know it was a photocopy of the White Box) and GM'd until I left Germany where I was stationed in '88. Although I've kept up with world building, I more recently have spent more time investigating digital storage option that best suit my needs and style. Still haven't really landed on one, but there are so many options out there and seemingly more all the time!

With the anticipated increase in hobby time, I'm hoping to start gaming & GMing again sometime this year, especially since I have the "excuse" that it is greatly beneficial to my mental health as a chronic disease/terminal illness patient. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

I greatly appreciate all your content and look forward to your emails! Always so encouraging and inspirational!
