Hello, everybody! I'm in Sunny San Diego, CA - USA. I started GMing about a year ago (started with Dungeon World) and am now 6 months into a 5e campaign in a homebrew setting with 5 players! I think I found Johnn's site through his 5 Room Dungeon article (which I've used to design encounters and even scaled up to design an adventure!) and I just subbed to the Campaign Logger. Thank you Johnn/Jochen for such an awesome and simple to use tool!

I'd say I'm partial to the d12, just 'cause I don't think it gets enough love.

Hi Folks, Niels here from Belgium. New to the community, and so far rather a platonic GM - no players found, not really looking either. Background in storytelling and RPG video games, and I guessed it was time to mix the two of them... Started exploring Faith Core, but I see the possibilities of D&D, Pathfinder, ... Currently favouring the idea of paper above computer tools, sandboxing above railroading, and tabletop above online meetings. We'll see where the road leads us. Let's roll that 1d3000!

Johnn's messages appealed to me in style and content, and lured me here.
Now my brain is telling me to plot before building, and never to forget polishing.

Where in the world are you? What game(s) do you GM? How long have you been GMing? What's your favourite sided-die?
Guten tag, fellow adventures/geeks/nerds/whatevers!
I am in the rather backwards US state of Florida, where the mosquito reigns supreme and many of the people have a limited understanding of science and reality in general.

I currently GM a 5E campaign (on Roll20 since the whole plague thing started). My party consists of three newbies, one of whom is 12, which makes things...not “fun,” per se. I’ll go with “interesting.” Before that I was running Deadlands Reloaded in my home state of Ohio, and waaay before that I used to run Vampire and Call of Cthulhu.

I think my favorite die is still a d10 from my V:TM days. I’ve long adored the WoD d10 system.

Anyway, that’s my introduction. Oh and the new Dune comes out in December. Just thought I’d drop that exciting little tidbit cos so far 2020 has been trash. Help us new Dune movie, you’re our only hope.

Welcome!
And yes indeedy, RP tables with kids can be ... cat herding gone to 11.

There is a book called "Roleplaying with Kids" by Technomancer Press which has a lot of great tips from GMs who have run tournaments and stuff where kids were in the mix.

Might be worth a look for you - I found a lot of useful stuff in it.

Hello! My name is Joshua.
I live near Burlington, VT. I have been GMing for about 15 years now. I have been a GM for D&D 3.5, 5E, Pathfinder 1E, Barebones Fantasy, Frontier Space, and a slew of homebrew systems.
I am currently working on creating an original RPG system focused on that perfect mix of collaborative storytelling and munchkin crunch and that is what I have been GMing for the past 2 years.
My favorite die is my all metal gold and blue d20. Other dice feel far to light and flimsy in comparison now.

@Joshua What's Barebones Fantasy like?

Barebones Fantasy was a nice rules-lite rpg that used a fantastic d100 roll under mechanic. It gave you the right amount of structure to not feel lost while also leaving a lot of room for improv and growth. I believe it was made by DWD Studios and was incredibly fun to mess around with for a few months. It led to my group doing a few playtests of Frontier Space for them.

Hi everyone!

My name is Gísli Didriksen from Kópavogur, Iceland.

Been DM-ing for about 3 years now (D&D 5E exclusively so far).
Currently running 1 home game in addition to having started DM-ing for hire.
Favourite die is the D20 of course.

Happy to be a part of this new community :)

@dmdidriksen woah, DMing for hire! how's that going? any fun?
I've just started, but so far it's very fun.
It started when a student of mine heard that I was DM-ing and asked if I could run a game for him and his friends for some cash. It went really well and they ordered another session and now I have 2 others lined up.
I think there's definitely a demand for it here in Iceland what with this new golden age of RPGs seemingly going on, especially with kids.

I'm on holiday now, but when I get back home I'm going to launch it formally as a business, with associated social media platforms and a website.
I'll maybe let you guys know how things go :)

Good Even...ing [lingering Dracula accent required],

Gamechef here - AKA Cal. long time player and GM of various genre TT, Wargames, Sci-fi, Boardgames that scratch the itch when pressed for time. Grandpa GM in fact. Been prepping for return to periodic GM'n that will hopefully become routine and consistent. Colorado is home. 5e and its OSR ancestry are fertilizer for my WorldGardens. D12's are my most favorite followed Ye Olde D20s and I like pairs of dice "paired" with outcome tables for that "just right" distribution curve. Hex flowers are becoming a goto tool as well.

Truly enjoy Johnn's email bright spots in my in-box.

Hello, my name is Kevin McG and I reside in Southern Illinois. I've run a variety of games over my allotted time here on Earth (Robotech, Heroes Unlimited, 1st & 2nd Editions of D&D, Call of Cthulhu), but am currently running 5e. I've been playing or running games since (GASP) the 6th grade (DOUBLE GASP) 36 years ago (!?!). My favorite die is the 20-sided. It's the one that's most likely going to make those who don't play TTRPGs go 'What the heck is that?'

"Well..." I would always reply then. "Let me tell you about this game we're playing..."

Hi All! My name is Brad and I have a fair number of years of experience playing D&D and various other TTRPGs. I took a long hiatus from them, but rediscovered them about 3 years ago and have been DMing a fair amount. I love creating great stories with my players and I really think this could help fine tune everything I do. Really happy to be here!

Hello everyone!

My name is Tim, and I have been playing for quite some time. I drifted away from D&D into other game systems for a while, then into Computer gaming when I did computer support, then engineering, but I have come back to my original love. I am always on the hunt for ways to improve my game, but I wanted to take this chance to step it up to the next level. I have been primarily running 5e, but also doing some Savage Worlds, and would love to explore GAN, Burning Wheel, and OSR variations as well. I am looking forward to seeing where this goes, and thanks for the fish!

Hi! I’m Petrina and I’m in Alberta, Canada. I’ve been playing a long time, but am not an experienced GM. I ran a nWoD story for a year, but got overwhelmed. I’m hoping to learn some skills to fix that! My favourite die is the d8, because it usually means I’ve landed my hit and somebody’s gonna get what’s coming to them!

My name's Ben. I currently live in Minneapolis, MN.

I'm in between running games at the moment, though I imagine I'll GM Stars Without Number next. I've been GMing since the early 90s, and my favorite dice is the d12.
