Wasn't FUDGE a precursor to FATE?

Hi, I'm Victor in Oakland, California. I started playing D&D in the early 80's, but I took a hiatus from about 1995-2019. Now I play with my family at home and some coworkers online (Roll20). I'm playing exclusively 5e, and looking back on my old AD&D books I can't believe how we dealt with those byzantine rules! Up to now I've been mostly organizing DM materials via Evernote and Trello, but I'm excited to see what I can do with CL. I'm especially excited for the Generator tools, and I look forward to converting my massive collection of random tables from Google Sheets to Generators!

Welcome @vnavone! Glad you are liking 5E. If you ever want to share your generators, let us know. There's an import/export feature in the tool.

Welcome!
I also started with early versions of D&D and AD&D ... and completely left for science-fiction games when second edition tried to "fix" everything.
But, when third edition landed in 2000, I really liked what was going on there and so came back to D&D from that.
I've only looked into 5E a little - when it launched without an OGL option like 4E did, I was not very interested.
Later they included an OGL and SRD version and so it's "back on the radar"

I think you will find a lot of solid 5E goodness and advice around here.

So, again, welcome!

OK, For some reason I wasn't already registered, so here we go. :p
Greetings! I'm Alex B aka Shazear.
I've been a GM since mid 1990s. Starting with Palladium: Robotech. Then eventually settling on my favorite system (old) World of Darkness. I took a break for about 10 years after moving to MN, but restarted about a year ago where I ran a War of the Lance 5e game for a year. Took a small break with a few Werewolf the Apocalypse sessions, and in a couple weeks, we're going back to Dragonlance to run the restore Silvanesti campaign as an eldritch horror game in 5e. Should be fun.
And d10s are my fav. ;)

Hello!

This is Gerald, and I have been an occasional player/mostly GM for somewhere around 35 years. Lived in Hawaii my whole life.

I have run DnD in various flavors, Champions, Shadowrun (2e, 3e, 5e), Warhammer Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader, Scion 1e, Hunter the Vigil, Blades in the Dark, Pathfinder 1e, Deadlands Reloaded, Conan RPG 2d20, Mutants and Masterminds 3e, 13th Age, Apocalypse World, Monster of the Week, Atomic Robo RPG, and various homebrew garbage(tm).

All the dice are my terrible children, except the d4. Hate the d4. And it hates me.

Howdy howdy!
Interesting start with Robotech. I still have my stack of Palladium for Robotech and Macross II but its not been played since the '90s for me.
Nice to see people getting back into Dragonlance as well. Good to know Forgotten Realms didn't drive it completely out.

And howdy howdy to you!
Quite a laundry list of RPGs there - that seems to be pretty much how it goes for lifelong gamers - the shelf keep growing!

So many games, not enough time. I feel like this is gamer mid-life crisis - I have come to the realization that I will die before I play all the games I want to play.

Welcome Gerald!
It would be impossible to GM all the stories we can come up with, but it is surely not to late to play one-shots of all the systems you would like to play, isn't it?
Just ask for a one-shot (or short adventure) in our looking for players or game forum. I'm sure we are happy to oblige.

What a wonder that would be! I'll see if I can screw up the courage. I have looked at some online gaming venues, but being on Hawaii Standard Time makes it tough. Thanks for the direction!

Maybe not that tough as I heard @Stephan Hornick is living by Japanese Time.

Actually, I try to live in German time, but as I work a lot with Japan, I'm often awake at their early or late business hours. And then again, I'm also awake at night to feed my baby. So 10am HST is 9pm German time. If you are available in the morning, this would work.

Hullo, everyone! My name's Joe, but I use the online handle Xandyr78. I'm from the US (Missouri), and I've been GMing since I was introduced to D&D 3.5 while I was in college in the early 2000s. My first GM was a terrible GM, and he inspired me to want to try my hand at it. I've been telling stories since grade school, and I've nearly always homebrewed my adventures...but this course will (hopefully) enable me to craft a much more cohesive adventure.

I currently run Pathfinder 1E, and I play in a 5E campaign.

My favorite die is the d4...it is both an unassuming damage die...and a weapon of mass destruction when left on floors in the dark. WIN!

Welcome Xandyr78! You will find a lot of Pathfinder and 5E players around these parts so you should be in good company.
And yes, the d4 is the Caltrop of Terror for those who fail their search/spot check early in the morning on a long gaming weekend ... snack run? sure... stomp!

Weekend mornings could work, (seems sinful somehow, to game in the light...). What sorts of RPGs are you into?

Sooooooooo painful. Worse than legos, and those things are spawned directly from the pits of the 7 hells. Thanks for the greeting!
