Has anyone played the Blades in the Dark game before?

What an amazing game. I've joined a one-shot coming up next week to play again.

I was planning to run the game before covid. I got the map of Duskvol printed out poster sized and laminated. Hopefully I can get that going later this year.

I saw a funny meme about it the other day. There was a large pyramid of hamburgers and then a single, delicious hamburger beside the pyramid.

The pyramid of burgers was labelled D&D. The single burger was labelled Blades in the Dark.

It's tells of the feeling of needing just one small book for a great game and even whole campaign. :)

I have played a couple of Blades one-shots, and played in a campaign of Band of Blades (another "Forged in the Dark" game). Both systems (especially Band) are excellent in matching the mechanics to the setting. Some of the innovations (such as progress clocks) can be easily adapted into other systems, too.

The downside is that especially Band uses some quite gamey mechanics, so that sometimes the game can feel more like a board game than freeform immersion.

I am currently reading "Scum & Villainy" and would like to hear about its parent "Blades in the Dark", too.

I would love to play Scum & Villainy sometime. I would be worth getting up at 4am to match your time zone. :)
