Currently, I have a bug where "phantom" logs are left when a campaign is deleted.

Repro Steps
  • Create a Campaign
  • Create a Log
  • Create another Log
  • Delete a Log
  • Delete the Campaign
  • Look at /logs (change the URL manually)
  • -> one of the logs might be stranded here
The Steps are reproducible every time. This might even be a feature and not a bug if you so desire. Please state your opinion.

I'd say if campaign are being deleted, ask if the logs should be deleted too. Id the answer is yes, delete them all, if it's no, let them check which ones to keep and generate a move to another campaign or create another campaign to put them dialog.

Isn't it so that logs may belong to more than one campaign (for example logs containing standard content, like NPC archetypes or SRD rules)? Also, multiple campaigns may share common world data stored in the same log. And even if a log is not currently used in more than just one campaign, it may be usable for that purpose in the future.

Therefore logs should not be deleted automatically, without confirmation.

No, the hierarchy is "one parent - several children" and the campaign is the parent and the logs are the children.

standard content, like NPC archetypes or SRD rules
These will get special treatment in the future.

I like the idea of asking to delete logs when deleting a campaign.

If we go this route, let's create a post on this in the CL help/reference forum. I don't like apps that warn me about deletions and don't tell me exactly what's going to happen. They just scare me into retreating and then I don't feel in control of my stuff any more.

Could we also create a Trash for accounts? I like Google's approach for GMail, Google Analytics, Drive, etc., where deleting things puts them in a Trash bucket for 30 days. This really takes the pressure off and gives you confidence when curating your data.
