I'd appreciate, independently from the date, to start earlier if possible. Going up to 12pm in the middle of the week is too much for me.

How does scheduling a game session actually work? You say when you want to play and what you want to do. When you are at least 3 players (and at max 5), and I am available as a GM, we will have an appointment! So when some else suggests a time and a mission, chime in early to reserve your seat and/or discuss alternative times/missions, so we come to an appointment soon. Please give me at least a week of preparation for that game! That said, I will surely suggest a date and time (but no mission) now and then. Especially to get new players started or to kick things off.
  • Best start by saying what you want to explore! Current suggestions:
    • Auheim
  • Then state when you want to play - current suggestions:
    • Week 16 or 18, from 9 pm till midnight

Remember: You can suggest different targets/missions and/or different days/times.
Remember: You should clearly say which mission you want to join and when it suits you.

Which character would be the best? What do we need?

OK, here is summary of my character concept.

Teophilius ‚Teo‘ Litvak
Apperance
Teo is 21 year old, of small and slender stature with blue eyes, brown hair and a small thin blade of a nose. His most striking feature is a strand of fire-red hair, a remnant of one of his alchemical mishaps. He wears wizard robes, which always seem a bit too large for him.

Personality
Teo possesses a cheerful nature. No matter what will happen to him, he always seems to get the upper hand in the end, or at least avoid major injuries and bruises. And he needs his luck: His plans tend to backfire in weird ways, even if they appear sound in the first place. These ‘unfortunate incidents’, however, cannot keep him down. (And such things can happen to everyone, right?).

What you might know about him…
... The Litvak family is from Halberstein. The Litvaks are quite known for their tavern, their tannery and their tailor’s shop.

… Teo was once an adept at the Free College of Holt-Lindeck. However, rumors have it, that he broke with the magisters of the college. Magister Nichuan in person forbade him to take the magister exam there. He never speaks about these incidents.

… Teo is good hearted but naïve and overconfident. Only recently he became an adventurer. He might not survive long…

... Teo is quite clumsy. He might have accidentally spilled your bear in the Dancing Cauldron, when he walked by. Mishaps seem to follow him.

… Teo often talks about becoming a famous and rich adventurer. He is looking for companions.

… Teo seems interested in some strange old dwarfen ruins in the borderlands.

… Gossip has it, that Teo might be cursed with bad luck from some kind of magical duel.

(I hope I can use the Free College of Holt-Lindeck in my background.)

You sure can! But the name of the magister is wrong! You used Björn‘s character‘s name instead. I‘m looking forward to your ingame introduction in the Dancing Cauldron!

As far as i know, we have a fighter, a scout, and two would-be or wanna-be wizards. Maybe you want to bring the lore of the gods to us unwanting, but humble servants? Maybe you want to lighten our moods with inspiring bardic music? Maybe a fierce elven warrior from the east? Since our groups might mix up a lot in the future you should choose something you really would have fun with!

Okay. Unfortunately, all three characters are already taken in the end. I have a warrior, a mage and some kind of scout. I think then I'll make one more character. Maybe a pure cleric.

I think it is absolutely no problem having more PCs of a profession. Warrior A and Warrior B will still be very different. And in case we have 3 warriors, the GM might dive right into it and give us a lot to do. Never mind professions. I think it all depends on how well the PCs adjust to each other.

Don't just make a character to fit a "group". Groups will change. Choose the character you would like to play.

Okay. I just added a fourth brother now. The character is already in Jochen's email box! So I am prepared for everything. I play every character. The main thing is that I can play myself!

One more question. Is it really the case that cleric spells are also based on IQ? And that Will is also based on IQ? Or do the adjustments apply: Will = 10 base and cleric spells are based on Will?
It doesn't occur to me that clerics all have to be smart.

Rules as Written: Will is based on IQ and all spells are based on IQ.

I don't know the rules that well, but maybe you could interpret you IQ as wisdom? There are some skills in the IQ list I wouldn't see related to pure deduction and knowlede, such as Leadership, Performance, or Streetwise. So I think with high IQ you can still play a wise man that isn't the brightest.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with German, please let me shortly explain on some naming conventions that occur in our game and a short trial of translation (of course I don't know, what the GM planned, but this is my best guess):

Holt-Lindeck: This is surely a name consisting of two last names (of nobles?) or areas.
Freiholt: Looking at Freiholt, it seems that the area might be called the Holt (and there is an allusion to "to hold"). "Frei" on the other hand means "free", so it can be a holding like a castle that is free in a sense that it is intended for free people to where slaves become free.
Auheim: This village consists of two parts again. Au = shire; and heim = home, so you could translate it to "Homely Shire", maybe a little bit like the Shire of the Hobbits.
Alt-Auheim: This is alt = old, so the old Auheim.
Neu-Auheim: Here is neu = new, so when Rhea speaks about name conventions of humans (to be posted soon by @JSRose), she is wondering, why it is not new Auheim.
Halberstein: Halb = half; stein = stone. So it means "Half stone" or more precise "Halved stone". On the map you can see a huge "table" of three obelisks before the small town. The "table" is cut in half by a mighty force and is a symbol of the town and the gate. I don't want to spoiler too much, but the town has its name from the halved stone.
Bei Gott: I'm not yet quite sure how the brothers are going to use this expression in the future, but it can probably be translated as "In the name of the god" or "May god be with us".
Gott bewahre: "May god prevent this"
So Gott will: "As long as god wants this"

(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

I think "Lindeck" derives from the Linner river that might take a couple of narrow turns ("Eck") around the area.
