History, Master, Plan (Feature)

Categorize any type of entry by whether it is History, Master, Plan (Feature). Master data describes static information about the tags therein. Plan is something that could happen Plans can be exacted or discarded, and if enacted linked to a history entry (the default of what people did)

I have logged a similar functionality as a change request. It would be really useful

"Use the flag for filtering
For example:
"Adventure" type tags = Flag = "done already"
Person type tags = Flag = "Dead"
Organisation type tags = Flag = "Destroyed"
What I am looking for is way to filter in the tag listing and also in the log window "nonactive" and active tag entries."

It would be useful to be able to show the things that are "dead", "done", "destroyed" in a different color in the log and tags where they are referred to to show they cannot be active anymore...

By the way: Currently it does not seem to be possible to search in tag listing anything that is not in the title. You can search for multiple tags in the log window.

Currently have 20+ items in my * (Loopy Planning) category and 50+ in my +(=future seeds) category, 40+ in cast of characters category. Some of these are not active (dead, destroyed, done) any more, some are. It would be very very useful to be able to show this in the log and tag listing (by colouring or special marker etc) AND search for this (give me all the active ones).

I am also starting to be constrained by the number of categories in the tags (one or two more tag categories would be useful)

It is quite tedious to go thru all the entries of the tag - for example person to mark the person as dead or the loopy planning entry done. So it would be beneficial to have a status on the tag (like mentioned above). In addition to this it would be really cool to have one of the tags marked as "master entry" like we discussed sometime earlier in the year and attach the history statuses to this master entry.

Thanks for the examples. That clears it up.

We're looking at meta data for tags as a feature but it's just in ideation right now, correct @JochenL?

@ELF I recall a similar convo in these forums but can't find it. If you do, let me know so I can cross-reference these threads.

Meantime, can you use the tag batch edit tool to do this?

For example, @EvilJohnn => @EvilJohnn.dead

Just a hack for now.

What would be possible symbols for new categories? The normal keyboard symbols are all in use currently for either tags, punctuation, or markup.

Perhaps you are thinking of the meta tag (or property) thread?

There are unused special characters left (like _ € £ ¤), but I'd advise against using the more exotic glyphs, as they may not be easily accessible on all keyboards - the caret (^) is already inconvenient enough. They might also be useful in the actual text, depending on the conventions of the game world.

I myself would prefer user-defined tags that start and end with a special character, but contain a user-defined string, like [done] or [dead]. Especially if the user could modify the GUI by adding clickable buttons for the most commonly used custom tags.

I think user defined tags are worth investigating. Some users have requested an expansion of 10+ tags. Technically, a flat taxonomy would require 100s of tags.

Also, exotic characters would be tough on mobile users.

@JochenL ref. in backlog: CL-939 & CL-674

What if we use markup for the tags instead of characters... <organization>"My Evil World Conquering Brotherhood" <person>"Devious Joe the Unbeliever". We could even have it <Campaign logger:eek:rganization> to make a tag hierarchy of our own

Correct. I intend on making it a part of reference entries which will be able to hold central information - each for one tag.
