"In My Head"

Other issues aside, I'm one of those "Keep a campaign/story in my head" sorts that JF mentioned, but I'm here to make a case for why these sorts of tools are still useful for us.

In two words:
1. Structure: back when my last laptop still worked, with my writing suites, I had writing software, primarily to find holes "in my head", i.e. in my story structure.
2. Creativity: being able to see everything "in my head" at a go, and to "play with it", to restructure and morph it, and to represent, as in "re-present" it in varying ways, lets me look at it in different ways, making new discoveries and inroads thereby.
3. Presentation/Communication: they permit others to see into "my head".

These kinds of products allow me to refine and improve, and to discover things that I'd otherwise have missed, and to relate them to others, possibly so that they may do the same, or similar.

That's it.

out.
