As I haven't found anything similar yet, maybe we can create a list of magical items players can find. Of course there are major artifacts changing the fate of the world and classic attribute-boosters or spell-stores, but I am looking more for small items that are not overpowered or game-breaking, but can be interesting additions to the daily game-play. Potentially we can also create a list of cursed items, as they are a favorite of mine, too ;-).
Example:
Name: Earrings of listening
Appearance: Inconspicuous small earrings that don't look very valuable
Effect: If two players wear one earring each, they can quietly communicate with each other over small distances
Note: Can create interesting role-playing, as it opens up the group to split and still communicate through specific players. Think of the barbarian trying to charm a lady with the rogue giving him very "useful" hints. Adapt the effectiveness/range to your liking. Only makes sense in a fantasy world obviously
Name: The infinite spoon
Appearance: A wooden spoon used for eating
Effect: Once owned by a player, he can always summon it in any pocket he puts his hand in. It's indestructable and unless he officially passes it on to another player, he can leave it wherever he likes or give it to whomever he wants, as it will always be summoned back to his pocket the moment he wants to, meaning it'll disappear wherever it was before.
Note: That's a great item to give to basically any character that's up for some mischief or just loves to have a spoon handy. It's not game-breaking but a funny fluff at the side. You can also make it cursed, so that it appears and disappears seemingly at random, too.
