Hello new forum members! Welcome!

Where in the world are you? What game(s) do you GM? How long have you been GMing? What's your favourite sided-die?
Iam just curious, I was a film maker now got curious about games which I think more interactive as a mode of communication for social change.

Hello everyone, my name is Todd and live in Newfoundland and Labrador. I played D&D as a kid (sometime in the 70s) and all through high school. Took a very long break and got back into RPGs several years ago. Talked my friends into DCC (and I became the 'reluctant GM' for our group), and we played that for a few years. Now we're regularly playing Mothership, Dragonbane and a smattering of other systems (Call of Cthulhu is my favourite, I think).

I'll also add that I'm a university professor and will be teaching a brand new course in RPGs for one of our Master's programs in the fall. So, I'm partly here to explore systems, talk to people and think loads about dungeon design! Looking forward to the chats.

Hello from central Indiana, USA... My name is Dave. I started playing RPG's in the late 70's (basic D&D... first character was a Thief). I don't remember when I first tried to run a game, but it might have been a couple of years later, just for my brother and myself... if that counts. I ran RPG's when I was in the Navy in the 80's for my shipmates and our spouses (the latter joining us when ashore).

Our current group of 20 or 30 years has migrated from Pathfinder to D&D 5e, and once in a while we delve into other systems... Castles and Crusades and Traveller at least... probably a few others also... but usually just for a break between long time campaigns. We have two primary GM's who alternate campaigns so we can all get to play from time to time, and another player who sometimes runs a game or two.

My last campaign as GM ended over a year ago, when I ran Demonplague in D&D 5th. I have a session zero for my next campaign set for this Saturday.

My favorite systems historically have been Traveller (original and MT), GURPS 3rd, and TMNT; and there are a few others that I only tried once or twice but also enjoyed... 7th Sea comes to mind.

I am a solid d6'er... all the others are just fancy trappings of the game.

Hello from the currently very warm state of Missouri! My name is Aiden. It's been about five years since I started roleplaying, and I've run probably a dozen short campaigns and a smattering of one-shots. I run FATE, Stars Without Number, and anything by Sine Nomine.

As for my favorite dice, I like the fudge dice. It's hard to make simpler math than just count up the pluses and minuses, which is nice when you're running for people who are younger and/or new to roleplaying, which has been most of my games.

Hello from the Chicago area. My name is Colin and I am both a GM and a player. Mostly D&D but also Frontier Space once in awhile. Currently running Storm King's Thunder and hoping that Campaign Logger can help me be more organized

New to using CL though I've had it several years. Started Playing D&D back in mid 70's, but haven't been DM'ing for a long time. Getting back into it and really need help.

I guess, it's time for a new tutorial session.

Anyone else interested?

Hello, new patreon supporter and GM. Hoping to have time to dive into these materials after a move and learning a new area and finding a new group.

Hallo everybody, here Roberto, Italian guy with 20+years of gaming with RPG. have been GM for 5-6 years only, and I am really fond of GURPS, although been playing with several other systems. Thanks for this very useful inspirational site for GMing.

(And sorry for my bad English)

Hello,
My name is Phil, and I've been playing D&D before there was Advanced D&D (since the mid-late 70's).

Retired now and just started a D&D 5e adventure as DM for the first time in 30 years. wish me luck and I'll take all the help I can get. We are using Roll20VTT and I have to learn it also.

Hi, everyone. I have DM'd a few roleplay chambers. Mainly DnD grouping with friends. Then internet arrived in my country of South Africa. Joined Mxit, a platform for South Africans to chat on that had a roleplay section called Dark Mountain. I ended up being DM for campaigns there and Battleground DM.

Looking into running Campaign on Relegate, naturally will be runni go DnD5E.
Just going to say hi in my usual way:

`The night sky is losing the battle to the dawn as I walk in and join the array of people around the campfire. I wave and smile. " Good, morning good people of the forums, may I join in and garner a respite for these weary feet. Been exploring around and like what I see. My name is Aine by the way. " I sit awaiting to see if there will be replies`

Thanks for having me here.
Thanks John for your effort with all this. Highly valued.

Hi All
I'm Malcolm, I've been GMing since the 80s, but I haven't actually run anything since the 90s.
I live in Washington State, on the east side (8 miles from Idaho, a couple hundred from Seattle and Portland)
For many many years I called Vancouver Washington Home, and attended OryCon for 20 years in a row (86 - 05)
I've started doing some solo gaming with Traveller which has always been my favorite game.
Favorite sided-die? 6, though I do love a nice pair of differently colored 10's giving me percentile dice.

Do we have a discord server?

Hello,

I am Michael Anderson. Started playing D&D in 1978. I was only ten then, so I’m not too old.

I've been GMing for over a quarter of a century (sounds more impressive than 30 years, eh?)

I’m currently running a DND 5e homebrew right now. It’s a mix of elements from rise of Tiamat, Out of the Abyss, and a homebrew I’ve been running since 1999.

Additionally, I still play with my long term group using the near-forgotten (and heavily customized) Role Master system.

As a player and as a GM, I try to keep narrative and character development at the core of everything I do. Lately, I find our playgroup’s style leaning toward the hilarious. We do a lot of silly stuff that would easily get us killed in older school campaigns.

We had our first remote session the day before yesterday. We are eager to see if we can duplicate the chemistry we have in person, online. So we are trying to keep it very open. We’re running a Rick and Morty module for Roll20.

My favorite die has always been the d10. I hate the hundred sided die (If I could create an emoji that represented my hate for that die, it would break this phone), The variant of the 10 sided die which displays 10s, instead of 1s holds a particular darks spot in my heart.

I have a four-year-old son that I am slowly indoctrinating into the life.

You wouldn't have started out in Vancouver Washington would you have?

I started playing with the early booklets. Since I started playing in Minnesota, I had the good fortune of playing with Dave Arneson as a DM at a few cons.
Today I play and DM with multiple generations of the game in Florida.

Hi All:
I'm getting ready to DM TTRPG 5e for the first time (we're in the mine in Phandelver, so I'm thinking I've got a couple months yet.) Been playing in two games for over a year now. Have extensive RP, improv, writing experience and a hyper-organized person by nature. I've watched the campaigns by Dimension 20 and Critical Role.

I'm going to run Dragons of Stormwreck Isle for my first game. Putting together materials now. Hoping to have fun and give my friends enjoyment.

Greetings! My name is Kevin, and I returned TTRPGs, D&D in particular, in July 2025 after stepping away in 1979. The D&D world has changed greatly since then! I've been predominantly playing 2014 and 2024 D&D live (along with some Savage Worlds and Shadowdark), and playing OD&D on Discord. So far, I've only DMed around six games session for my family in the new Heroes of the Borderland Starter Set, but I'm getting ready to start DMing some community groups. I am looking forward to teaching myself AD&D, B/X, and BECMI, and getting into some solo playing.

I reside in Springfield, Missouri, and my favorite die is d20!

Greetings and well met to my fellow travelers and dreamers.
My name is Cedric, and it is truly an honor to find myself in your company. A little about myself, I started playing TTRPG's, and there live action counter parts back in the ancient times known to some as the 80's. In that time,e I was lucky enough to run my own company makeing our living on the Convention trail across the country and working for the TV and movie industry makeing and selling costumes and props. We were called Airship Isabella and were very, very heavy in the steampunk world. This gave me the chance to sit and play in games all over and be part of the magic of all those worlds and adventures. From New Orleans today, we call Gettysburg,g PA. home. I am currently running a homebrew campaign called Welcome to hell, enjoy the buffet. And we have been going for a year at this point. I truly love being able to geek out with fellow travelers and dream weavers. Being able to learn from so many out there to continue my journey to become a good DM someday and hearing new and inventive ideas abd pass on some of what I have run into is priceless. Currently I am working hard to keep up with the times and use the computer to be my assistant in taking my travelers on there adventrures. A lot to learn especally from an old school book, notebook, and dice player. I look forward to getting to meet each of you and beable to hangout with fellow super nerds! So I bow to the roo.m I wish you fair winds and full sails, and I will see you out there.
With Respect and Honor
Cedric
