Playing online might be possible, but I don't see meeting up to play working out currently. Thanks for your thoughts though.
This is what I was suggesting, online gaming. As Jochen has posted above, it seems to be working out well for me so far.

Howdy, all!

My name's Daniel. I live in Staten Island, NY. I've been GMing 5E D&D for a few years now. I am the "forever GM" of my group (having GMed way more than I've played) but that's cool because I love the creative aspects of GMing so much. I am also getting into Dungeon Crawl Classics at the moment, and I hope to play lots of different systems to see what inspires me about each one. I am really falling in love with all things OSR, and even though DCC isn't a retro-clone I still love the vibe and the mechanics. Lastly... I refuse to choose a favorite die, because they are all my special evil children. But really it's the D20, just don't tell the others.

Howdy, I am Tamra, been out of the game for a while. The last session I DM'ed was Demonplague (so much fun!), which was 2.5 years ago. I want to start a fresh campaign so I am working on my world right now. Going to try the Savage Worlds way this time...we shall see. PS Props are life!

Where am I? Calgary, AB right near the middle
How long have I been a GM? I started as a player in 97, started DMing in 2015, Ended DMing in 2019
What have I played? started with 2e, then 3.5, straight to 5e. I DM'ed in 5e. Have also played Shadowrun, Star Wars, and lately getting into Savage Worlds.
My fav sided die? D12 as it gets so little love

My name is Paul, I live in Canton, Michigan. It's as far west in Wayne County that you can be without being in Washtenaw County.

I've been gaming off and on (mostly on) since White Box D&D. I guess that qualifies me as a "grognard". Started GMing when I was 12, I think. Currently only running a Pathfinder 1E game, but I have also GMed all AD&D before 4E, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Over the Edge, Traveller, and Top Secret. I've also played Amber Diceless, Ars Magica 4E, Bloodshadows, Champions, Conspiracy X, Fate, Feng Shui, Gamma World, GURPS, James Bond 007, MSPEye, The Morrow Project, Paranoia, Savage Worlds, Star Trek (FASA), Star Wars (West End), Toon, Tunnels & Trolls, Twilight: 2000, Villains & Vigilanties, and Warhammer Fantasy 1E. There's at least one more RPG I've played that I can't for the life of me remember the name of. I'm probably forgetting some others, too.

Favorite die? The d20. Still love the thrill/anguish of rolling a 20/1.

Good Day and Well Met Everyone.

My name is Ray and I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada, aka The Middle Of Nowhere :p

Not sure if I really have a favourite dice but the d20 is probably the one I've used the most so I'll go with that one. I'm really drawn to unique, themed dice though, like these. I have all their sets and they are so cool!

My role-playing journey has been a rocky one. As far back as I can remember I've always enjoyed fantasy and science fiction. I still love the Shannara series of books by Terry Brooks. Unfortunately, due to the satanic panic era I never got the chance to try gaming. The closest I got was catching a glimpse of one of my friends' older brother sketching out a map on graph paper which really intrigued me. Surprisingly, my parents didn't seem to have any issues with computer games. One of my favourite games was Darklands. I remember playing that forever. I still have the original box with the 10 or so 3.5" floppies that it came on as well as an update disk that was mailed to me after purchase. Anyhoo...not sure where I was going with that...

My first actual experience with rpg's was when I hit university in the tail end of the '80s. I found a group and started playing Shadowrun. I really enjoyed that and played for most of my university years if I recall. After I started work I drifted away due to extensive traveling and no internet. I'm not sure exactly what piqued my interest again but I think it may have been around '05 when I went back to college and discovered chainmailleing as a hobby (from a classmate) which resurrected my interest in all things fantasy-related. I started searching and discovered that there was a whole new gaming world out there with systems of every shape and color that you could think of.

I initially stumbled across the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game so that was my entrance back into the gaming world. The price was right (free) and it seemed simple enough to pick up quickly. I lurked around their forums and dabbled in a few PbP games which I enjoyed but work, family, and other hobbies always kept competing for my time. Unfortunately, I've come to accept the fact that I'm like a squirrel with hyper-active ADHD. I have so many hobbies and I just keep flitting from one to the next and never stick with any one thing very long (although I do keep circling back around). I had hoped that as our kids got older I could get them interested and I would have a ready-made gaming group. I did GM a handful of games with them over the years but it never got past a single session here and there. It was around this time that I also discovered Kickstarter and starting building my collection of books. Most of them are old-school type games as that seems to be what I'm drawn to. I have a shelf full of Castles & Crusades, Labyrinth Lord, Swords & Sorcery, Old-School Essentials and a smattering of other things that I look at, read once in a while, and dream about playing...someday. Our youngest 2 kids are getting to the end of their high-school years though so my gaming group hopes are fading.

Anyways, sorry for rambling on and if nothing else I will get some enjoyment from reading about others' gaming escapades.

Hi all,

My name is Zack, and I've been GMing on and off, with a few different groups, since around 2016. I have a few great groups of friends that I habitually play with, who RPGs allow me to interact with even as we've moved away from each other and are entangled in adult life. I have DM'd both D&D 5e and Green Ronin's Dragon age RPG, and am currently on the hunt for a good idea for a new campaign. I came to learn about getting more organized and streamlined in campaign creation. I don't have as much time as I did in college, and I want to create setpieces & obligatory that are exciting and feel less obligatory.

My favorite die is the d12.

Wow! I didn't know that this exists! So are there more kinds of sets than the cleric, rogue, wizard, and warrior set?

Hello all. Handle's BardicGM - I DM an All-bards campaign atm, but my players are looking into something space-themed ala Starfinder, i'll probably throw in a few homages to firefly and other scifi pop culture references too.

Edit: by the time i posted this message, my WoA content finally appeared. Woot!

Hello new forum members! Welcome!

Please leave a reply and introduce yourself.

Where in the world are you? What game(s) do you GM? How long have you been GMing? What's your favourite sided-die?
Charlotte NC. Last thing I GM'd was Fate - which I did not like. Before that, Savage Worlds. I was interested in Warhammer FRP, as I love the setting, but the rule book was just a jumble and the experience looked very grim. Currently thinking how to do 5e in a Warhammer setting.
I bought first edition in 1976...which makes me really old.
I love all the dice equally.

Hi everyone!

I'm Maarten (from Belgium). I've been GMing for about 20 years now (damn I feel old). Started of with AD&D, switching to 3.5 before stepping over to World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness. As a player I've also done some Pathfinder, Shadow Run 3rd and 4th edition aswell as 4th edition WFRP.

I'm currently writing a gritty low fantasy Chronicles of Darkness campaign in a homebrew setting loosely based on The Witcher (books and Wild Hunt videogame). I joinedma mainly for the Faster Combat course.

My favourite sided-die is probably still the D20. But I've grown to love a D12 and D10 as well.

Hey. Here's an old guy that is planning on getting his group back together post Covid. I have to do my homework first and we have one player that needs one more shot.

I've been playing RPGs since late 1974 or early 1975. I started with the original D&D pamphlets in a little white box (that I still have).

I'm now playing Pathfinder 1.0 or will be soon.

Hi all,

I'm Paul, a guy in his 40s from Michigan. Currently, I live in Royal Oak, which is a northern Detroit suburb about fifteen minutes from downtown. I've been lurking around Roleplayingtips.com stuff for awhile and just signed up yesterday for the new Wizard of Combat. I've also been running a Demonplague campaign since October and we're right in the thick of things now (lvl 9) :) Looking forward to making my combats more immersive and story-driven. My Demonplague group is really RP heavy and combats often seem like they delay the story rather than improve it and the problem seems to be getting more noticeable as the characters level up...especially in an isolated part of the world like the Luna Valley.

In total technical news, I'm worried my account didn't sink with my WoC purchase yesterday. I did use the same email to sign up for the course as I did to sign up for the forums last year. Can anyone help me figure out how to check that this is all set?

Hi all, I'm Ben from Minnesota. As a teenager in the mid 2000s, I DM'd a few D&D 3.5 sessions for my friends, but it never really stuck. I continued looking at books and blogs and subreddits, but took about a 10-year break from play. Now, I've been running a couple of 5E games for 3-4 years in a Homebrew world for some of the same friends. We use Foundry both in-person and online, and reading Roleplaying Tips has had a huge impact on my style and skills. The D20 is my favorite die - it's iconic and when D20s are rolling, things are happening. :)
