Halloo! Just checking in here from the Pacific Northwest, USA. I've been RPGing since the days of the three little booklets (mid-1970s, I'm that old, ha!), but most of that time in other games than official D&D. GMing for much of that time, in more different systems than I can easily remember. Currently taking it easy on GMing; I'm in a great group where we rotate duties, so I've been playing a lot more than running lately.
My most recent GMing stints have been Feng Shui and D&D4. Long-time history buff, retired after 35 years of a union job, now playing househusband and stacking up a few more minis to paint "someday" ;)

Hey everyone!

I'm Michael from San Antonio, Texas. I've never played D&D, but I bought the starter set in March to see if my kids would like it during COVID (four of them, ages 8 to 15). I'm a pretty avid board gamer, and am usually the one who reads the rules and explains a game to newcomers, so I'm the DM. It's been fun, and I've added a few homebrew side quests to Lost Mine of Phandelver. I love D&D now, and I think it will be something my kids remember playing with me when they get old. :)

I also like playing Gloomhaven, Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, Dominion, Through the Ages, and other board games with lots of pieces.

My favorite die is the d4, but only if the number rolled is up top. (Some versions have the number rolled on the base of the triangle side.)
Happy Birthday, Michael! I hope you have a wonderful day.
How is GMing working out with you lately? Are your kids still interested? (moods can be fickle in that age)

Hey there,
I'm Josh Plunkett, long time dm and passionate about campaign management tools. I'm known for my YouTube series on Realm Works, cc3+ and more recently Obsidian.md. A Google search for myself pointed me here so thought I'd pop in and see what's going on.

@Smoki248 : Happy Birthday, Tamra! I hope you had a nice year.
How did it work out with the campaign you intended? You know, the one with your own PCs as legendary NPCs?

Hi!

I'm a French Canadian and I've been DMing since 1981.

My go-to system for the last 25 years has been Rolemaster. Been developing, on and off, a heavily homebrewed game world for over 20 years.

After a hiatus of 15 years, I'm getting back behind the screen with my original players (we now have the time to play) over Discord (2 continents, 3 countries!).

Fave die is d10!

Hi guys, I just signed up.
I am Morten aka Evenfell (my DM name), from Norway.
Found this while searching for a good and effective way to prep and run adventures.
So far very impressed of what im seeing. have been looking for this kind of stuff for a long time, and the 5rd system seems amazing.
I started playing AD&D 2ed back in 1997, and played that for a decade, until I got a family.
I am still an avid collector of books, and have to many.

The last years I started to get interested again in RPG, and wanna start up. I got into Vampire 5th ed, Fate Core, Swade (deadlands), and also inspired by games like Delta Green, A State, Conspiracy X, and Eclipse Phase, and probably many more I wanna try out

I am hoping I can contribute with some ideas and inspiration to other DM`s as well as getting advice and ideas back.

Thanks.
My group is under construction. (soon looking for players I guess)
So for now just me and my old DND friend. We are planning to add more people if we can find them (hopefully online with some similar interests)
But Im prepping for a 5E campaign set in my homebrew world. To finish up the ending of a long campaign. (with a huge twist)
Maybe im gonna start an own thread about it, as im planning to write some adventures these days and in my upcoming vacation.
That is also how I found this forum looking for a great framework to build adventures.

Hi all, I'm David. I'm in North Carolina, USA.
I'm currently running 3 Symbaroum RPG games and just finished a 2 year D&D 5e campaign with some college-age kids, we're going to start running Tales from the Loop soon.
I've been GMing for 35+ years starting with "red box D&D", but have run Star Frontiers, Vampire the Masquerade, Rifts, Palladium Fantasy, Call of Cthulhu, D&D 5e, Aliens RPG, and a lot of others.
My favorite "die" is percentile.

Hello everyone!

My name is Jack, and I've been GMing for not quite 2 years. Never played TTRPGs before, talked a group of friends into trying it with me, and have somehow managed to keep it going! None of us knew what we were doing when we started, and I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing! We are all well-seasoned video gamers, and none of us are what I would call super creative types, so the "collaborative storytelling" elements of TTRPGs is something we are still learning how to do. I am passionate about this new hobby, and want very much to continue growing and developing as a GM and storyteller.

We are running 5e, and after starting with Phandelver, we have moved into a heavily modified Tyranny of Dragons 1-20 campaign.

My favorite die is the d2. We use a large, heavy metal "coin" with a 1 on one side, and 20 on the other. Makes me feel like Two Face when it gets flipped!
I just finished a 2 year+ game of Phandelver and modified Tyranny (used Red Hand of Doom). Love me some Tiamat!

That first game is the hardest - the rest is just practice and polish.
It *does* get easier and there's a lot of folks and info here willing to help.
Just keep asking yourself "what happens next that could be fun?" and start setting out those pieces for the players to play with.
Feel free to jump in and start a thread with whatever questions or concerns you have and let's see who has what ideas to offer.
