I go by many names. Joe, Ray, Finkle, Top G (work nickname heh)... anyway, hi. Brand new to this community. Been a GM for less than a year, but quickly fell in love with it. I like creating worlds, scenarios, stories and stuff. I also make music as a side hobby. Happily married with no kids 'cept a little furball named "Kitty." She's pretty great. Cat is nice too.

I'm a born and raised Californian currently serving in the armed forces. Hoping to get out and work in the radio communications field or something like that. Feel free to say hi anytime. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
my name is Dominik, living in Austria. My TTRPG Journey started 15 years ago with the dark eye from where the path have led over various systems like Shadowrun, FATE, Numenera etc. to my current Systems DnD (as a Player), Avatar Legends as GM and Hexxen 1733 (German TTRPG ) as a GM. So with around 13 years under my belt, I am curious which tips and tricks I can learn from the community.

My favourite dice is the d6 when more than one are used. Otherwise, I would go with the classic d20 option for maximum mayhem :D

I don't think i have a favorite die. But my favorite archetype as a player is the sorcerer/monk
And you have been an RPT subscriber for AGES! Thank you.

Corey here, hi! I've been GMing for 0 years, playing for 2 years, and want to get into it but feel confident and like I kinda know what I'm doing when I start! The first time I played D&D was in 1984, for the summer. Came back to it in the pandemic. Looking forward to learning :)

Hello all, been throwing dice around for what seems like forever. Okay maybe only since '85, but it has been fun to say the least.
Have been involved with many different systems with quite the variety of players and GMs. So I am willing to field pretty much any questions, I just currently have a lot on my plate and do not get online as much as I would like so I will be slow to answer.

Currently running Undermountain with PF ruleset, prior to that played some "indie" systems for a change of pace. On the side I am trying to put together a very simplified Pirate style RPG ruleset, but with my time constraint guessing that is going to be awhile. We were playing Starfinder for a good amount of time before this and am patiently waiting for my copies of Grimmerspace so we can get back into Starfinder ruleset for a bit. Recently started using Foundry and find it interesting for virtual stuff. And of course I am into computers as well, recently playing Space Engineers and have a server set up for that and Foundry.

I think I have babbled enough, hope you all have a good day and looking forward to exploring this site (Johnns only been sending me emails for a year or so to check this out).

Hey, all!
I'm Matt, and have been gaming and DMing since I discovered D&D in the fall of 1980... so I'm so old that you can spell it "Olde". I've dabbled in nearly every system out there, but I always came back to D&D - until Pathfinder was created - and even though I've played 4E and 5E, I'm sticking with PF1. I'm presently living in the Buckle of America's Bible Belt - Alabama - and get to see the Satanic Panic has never really subsided down here. I've got an active group, and we play weekly - Thursday nights are GAME NIGHTS (insert frenetic cheering here).

I'm here to share what I know (usually learned from mistakes on my part!), and to learn loads of new stuff - because NOBODY knows it all!
As trope-y as it is, my fave die is the d20. Like Johnn, I still get a real rush when I see that Nat 20 come up!

Hello! I'm Carolyn from Pennsylvania (closer to Philly than Pittsburgh). I've been playing and GMing games for about twenty years now. The first thing I ever played was Shadowrun, and the first I ran was a homegrown that I invented based on Piers Anthony's Xanth novels. I also ran a LOT (probably too much) of Elfquest by Chaosium.

Lately I've been running two campaigns: a utopian shiny space Sci Fi adventure and a dark fantasy set in the 1930's dust bowl of Kansas and involving a traveling circus (and many mysterious circumstances). My favorite die are the pair of D10's that add up to 100% because we use those the most in the system we use.

Nice to meet everyone!

Never feel bad about running Elfquest. The comics were the closest that American artists got to anime levels of visual interest before anime got huge.

Hello, all. My name is Ray, and I'm typing at you from Guelph, Ontario. I've been playing TTRPGs for... yeesh.. like, 20 years now. I started with D&D Red book back in high school with my friend Mark. As a senior, he DM'd for the rest of us 9th graders. My frist character, Erikus Rith, died of embarrassment.

I have been GMing more or less bi-weekly for the last three years, but I'm always looking to learn more. I actually have never run a D&D session, but I have run long-running (16+ sessions) campaigns for Wyrd's Through the Breach and R.Talsorian's Cyberpunk Red.

My favourite die has got to be the d6, as it was my first introduction to games at all. The d10 is quickly becoming the runner up, because it sows so much chaos within my Cyberpunk campaign.

Welcome. I cut my teeth on the red book as well. But only for a year - then moved to where D&D was never heard of and didn't get back into with 5th ed. (Now playing Genesys)

Greetings! My name is Nelson. I'm based out of Maryland and originally from Miami. As you can see from my avatar image (at least as of when I'm typing this) I like ren faires. I first started playing D&D as a player during 3.5 back in 2010. That group fell apart, and then I had another chance to play in mid-late 2012. The DM at the time would later become my wife years later. In 2013 I moved to Maryland. In 2014 I started to DM for the first time for local friends. We played 4e. We did Keep on the Shadowfel. To date, that's the only campaign I've "finished". After that, the group changed DMs and at some point they kept playing without my wife and I...not sure why, but it was never something I asked about. We're still all friends, and the DM that took over the group is a player of mine and also a DM for me in another game. We're doing doing some cross campaign collab work between our characters as well (soul clone copies).

Starting around 2017 I started playing again in another group. Fast forward a couple years later to the end of 2019 and I started to DM regularly again (I had a short stint with Roll 20 a couple years back for some remote friends). I started with the module Descent Into Avernus. Anyone familiar with the module knows *a lot* of work has to be done for it to make any sense, so I got a good amount of practice that way. I always want to make sure my PCs' characters have personal ties to the overall plot anyway so I've home brewed a lot of connecting scenes to make the whole story make sense.

Then the pandemic happened and we were all forced online. I already had some experience with Roll20 so I started with that. After a while though, my ambition to make awesome experiences for my players started to outgrow what Roll20 could do for me. So I took the plunge and got into Foundryvtt (I had a spare lab computer I used for IT training that I repurposed). There was definitely a learning curve, but it was worth it for me. I won't lie though, troubleshooting that system somedays can take a lot out of me. So anytime I can shave on the GM prep that I can use to wrangle my Foundry server is much appreciated.

Currently I'm actively running 2 campaigns that meet on average every 2-3 weeks. I mostly do them in person while leveraging FoundryVTT as my game board. I'll do online sessions every now and then if people are sick but still want to play. Campaign 1 is the Descent Into Avernus module…heavily modified. Campaign 2 I've named "They Could Be Giants" and it is based on the Candlekeep Mysteries. I originally went with that adventure with the design idea that I'd treat the smaller adventures like episodes, with a meta plot weaved through that gets touched on each episode with a season finale (kinda like Supernatural) to pull it all together. That metaplot, btw, touches upon the first campaign I ran back in 2014.

I also have 2 homebrew campaigns that I run occasionally. One is a west marches setup that I had hoped to run more often with less prep and a greater variety of players. At least that is the goal.

My other one that I've had to put on the backburner for now but I'd really like to run is my sci-fi world that is meant to be part battle-tech with fantasy-esque ground combat (where magic is just technology…"Nanomachines son!"). Customizing rules for that has been a real bear though in addition to all the standard adventure prep.

That's my story. I write a lot sometimes.
