Hola from Canada, @UbiquitousRat! I played GURPS a number of times. I really liked the combat system.

Hello, all.

My name is Dave and I am currently living near Ottawa, Canada. I have been playing and DMing D&D 5e for the past six or seven years, after a 20+ year hiatus. I got back into TTRPGs for something to do with my boys and now the whole family is playing. I am currently running a family DotMM campaign. After this campaign, I hope to find enough time to break away from published adventures.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

I should have been a here a long time ago, and I'm sorry it took me this long but I'm glad to be here :)

I'm in real need of a new tool to keep track of my games, and I've been a patreon of Johnn's for a while and had the pleasure of talking to him at several occasions. It took me a while to realize that Campaign Logger seems to be the tool for me, complementing my maps very well.

Hey Anna! It's fantastic to see you here!

Please share with us the URL for your Greyhawk maps. They are amazing.

What made CL click for you just now?

I had a similar experience with Evernote. On the fourth serious try, it clicked that it was a cloud-thinking tool. Flat hierarchies. Non-linear. And the Key to that tool was to master search.

Thank you Johnn :)

My Greyhawk maps can be found here: https://www.annabmeyer.com

For me it was the simplicity of CL, just enter the information and use tags and the information sorts itself. Been using Realm Works for years, which is saw the last development a couple of years ago, so I've been looking for an a replacement. I started using Evernote as my daily note taking app over ten years ago and have been using it for my work and campaignas as well, then Realm works came and I was thrilled to have a dedicated application. But it was lacking features, so when I realized they were not going to be developed I went back to Evernote again. I love Evernote, but it lacks layout functions and it doesn't have a way to organize long form content in a visual way page after page . So for a year I've been testing lots of different tools, and there are some that are very impressive but geared towards displaying your content for the world rather than for you as a GM, and they often require you to use BBcode, CSS and XML to make use of all the functions. This is too much for complication for me, and kills my creativity, game planning and running need to feel intuitive. CCS, Python, XML, LUA and other similar stuff is something I use in my map making every day, and have enough of.

So when I saw the demo of the next version of Campaign Logger I really liked what I saw, a tool that I can use intuitively and it still understands gaming content I was hooked!

Hello all. New Gm but a longtime ancient player. Played AD&D back in the day but left off when life got in the way. Now I am back enjoying the 5e ruleset so much, I've pulled all my old game notes out of the closet and started a homebrew campaign.

Welcome @Frost Birch! Homebrewing is half the fun of GMing. I'm glad you're back in the hobby.

Hi every one I'm Tony from South Carolina, US. New patron member...though I've been reading the tips off and on since around the launch of DnD 3e. Have been gaming since getting the Moldvay box set in 81 or so...again off and on. Looking forward to the community, figuring out campaign-logger, and my way around the other perks.

Hi everyone!
I‘m Matt from Bavaria/Germany. I‘m playing and GMing TTRPGs since the eighties.
I started with D&D but played many different systems since then. In the last year it was Splittermond (Player) and ETU - Savage Worlds (GM). Until now I used mostly paper as organization tool but I want to try something more smooth.

Welcome, Matt!

I am from Germany, too, and I am using CL for my current Splittermond game. If you have any questions: just ask!

Just joined from Johnn's link in role playing tips email.
I live just South of Nashville, TN.
I have been playing D&D since 1976 with the original white box. Wish I had gotten the first printing, but did not have the money at that time.
I am not currently doing much gaming or GMing, but still interested in checking in on other players and game masters.

Hello, I'm vaftss2. I currently live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I typically GM games of D&D and/or Pathfinder, but have been itching it GM many different systems if given the chance. I am about to be GMing a game of D&D 4th edition.

My favourite die is the d20; specifically, my Elder Dice d20 where the 20 is replaced with a star of the elder gods. As John said, something about a natural 20 is just so sweet.

Howdy neighbour! I'm hoping to try new game systems this year too.

Enjoy 4E. It's got a fantastic combat system!

Good morning,
Hauke from Flensburg, Germany. I've been playing D&D for 34 years now starting with the first german translation of the Menzer Red Box. With the 2nd Edition (which is still my favorite) I switched to the original english printings and kept it that way till today.
Following your newsletter for a long long time. Allways a good read, Johnn! Thx for sharing you thoughts and experience.

Welcome @Cyric. I have ordered the B/X Essentials box hoping to get an OD&D type game going. Ordered in May and the books have not arrived yet, alas.

Congrats on three decades of D&D!

Hello!
Bought my first Dungeons & Dragons kit (the starter kit) in November 2019. Became the prophet spreading D&D in my group of friends (and city. and country)
I've found others who play - and now, running a D&D Homebrew game with 8 players.

Fan of Johnn and his Loopy Planning technique. Joined here as I bought Johnn's new course.

Excited!
