For me it was the simplicity of CL, just enter the information and use tags and the information sorts itself. Been using Realm Works for years, which is saw the last development a couple of years ago, so I've been looking for an a replacement. I started using Evernote as my daily note taking app over ten years ago and have been using it for my work and campaignas as well, then Realm works came and I was thrilled to have a dedicated application. But it was lacking features, so when I realized they were not going to be developed I went back to Evernote again. I love Evernote, but it lacks layout functions and it doesn't have a way to organize long form content in a visual way page after page . So for a year I've been testing lots of different tools, and there are some that are very impressive but geared towards displaying your content for the world rather than for you as a GM, and they often require you to use BBcode, CSS and XML to make use of all the functions. This is too much for complication for me, and kills my creativity, game planning and running need to feel intuitive. CCS, Python, XML, LUA and other similar stuff is something I use in my map making every day, and have enough of.
So when I saw the demo of the next version of Campaign Logger I really liked what I saw, a tool that I can use intuitively and it still understands gaming content I was hooked!
