Not Again, and Not Cool

Just lost two entire Logs, one containing significant amounts of data; I've been here before, with other products, and here I am again.

If you can't RELY on a thing, then it's worse than useless.

Dag nabbit.

What are you seeing on your screen? Some logs, a blank screen, or something different?

I'll file a help ticket.

To my knowledge, no user has experienced a data loss in the past year except under exceptional circumstances, such as losing internet access during a save and then closing the browser without checking the log saved.

A list of logs; I told you to give it to a chimp, because we'll break anything and poop on it.

I had internet access, but it wouldn't accept the entry, "saying" that I may have lost access. I copied the entry that I was trying to make; there was nothing else to save. I tried reentering that log and then logging the copied entry, which it still wouldn't accept. So, did the clear, logout, and login, and then THAT log, and another with the content, were both gone.

Possible causes: I'm using CL cat labels as or as part of individual logs.

I have MANY separate logs now, which I was in the process of parsing, organizing, and ordering (too much is as bad as too little)>

I am more than willing to grant you access to my login/log/data if that will help.

I don't normally do that, but I like you, and I REALLY want this product to work, because it's similarly wired as I am; I like the implied philosophy.

So, what else do you need? This is one of those "simple/basic" things, like with the AK analogy. It can be the sexiest ride on wheels, but if you can't rely on it, it's a no-go.

I don't think that's you/CL, or I'd have popped smoke already, ala "Fool me once, shame on you; twice? Shame on me. Thrice? Time to shop for suck-starting shotties."

j/k

Thank again either way.

Add: to be completely fair to both you, your pard, and CL, I freely admit, not to sound animistic, that computers hate me, electronics hate me, and programs hate me.

If anyone can break/screw something up/find a weak point/problem, it would be me. "It's a gift, and a curse."

So, caveat emptor mea.

While I'd like to be kept up to date, and to return to this product in the future, unless I have some clear, practical way of avoiding this in the future, I'd like a refund, and to cancel my sub please.

Please keep me on the mailer, esp. regarding improvements/changes in this area.

Again, thanks to alcon.

Just some ideas, still presuming it was operator/user error:

1. A secondary indication that the log still has content; between sleep-dep induced dyslexia, and confusing one line with another, thinking that the log has "0" content because you're looking at the wrong line is a real possibility.
2. Something more than one click; for example, confirmation text like "I really mean it" or the like.

Again, this presupposes that that it was indeed the monkey who dumped the bucket; regardless, JL did ask for suggestions.

It may be entirely irrelevant but, for what it's worth.

Add: alternating colored rows/columns etc., as with spreadsheets, would somewhat mitigate this, and make for more accurate reading and cut search times/prevent visual drift as above, both within the logs, and the log list.

Was it not simply a matter of logging entries while having an active filter on that filters out your new log entries?

My thumbs don't even fully oppose man; could you rephrase that in Idiot?
There is a way to filter all your entries.
- Either by putting some text in the inputfield (search/filter)
- Or by using the "Got to Tag Listing" drop down.

If you use either of those filters, you will only see logging entries you made that fulfill your set filter.

So for example, if you filter on the text "town", you will see only your logging entries that have the text "town" in it.
Now if you make a new logging entry containing a lot of text, but not the word town, then from the moment you click "log this", it will seem like the logging entry just simply disappears.
While if you reset all filters, and show all entries, you will see it again.

Just a possibility.

Also remember that you do need to click the "log this" button. It's not auto-save.
That's one way I lost data before, as I had typed a whole log entry, where I was still thinking what to type more. I had some issue with my computer that required me to restart the computer, causing my lovely message to disappear :(

Besides that, I've never had any log entries that actually really disappeared.
