Some corrections and additional notes:
  • Install App: Offline work is prepared, but not live at the moment. Currently, you just install it to start it directly from your app menu instead of browsing to the web site.
  • The Refresh button is not updating the app but just reloading data from the server - in case you have old data still in your local cache. This will be removed in the future and be an automated background task associated with the above offline feature.
  • Download/Upload: Campaign Entries are currently not included yet but will be in the future
  • Images: there will be an upload function in the future
  • Character Limits: Log Entry 2,500; Campaign Entry: 250,000

I imported one of my campaign logs into the new UI and did some after game planning.
In general I think it is fine.

I am disappointed in how the "move logs around" handles things. It seems to "swap" logs, which is fine and all, but does not allow you to easily move a log to the top of the list, or move one to a specific place between two others. I made extensive use of the up, down, top, bottom arrows on the old campaign log. When doing long term planning, I would make entries with dates or triggers in them, and mark them as *"FUTURE EVENT PLANNING". If they came about, I could pretty quickly move them to the top of the log when they occur. At the end of my game sessions, I could also move all of those to the top of the list, keeping their order, to help remind me what was coming up on the horizon from a story perspective. With the "drag and drop" functionality of the new logger, I lose the ability to do this. If you want to keep the UI uncluttered, you could make it an optional item like the "prefix/suffix" option (which I also use a lot to tag all entries with the game date and game session number).

 
  • Charting/Diagramming using mermaid syntax is now available as an alpha feature
    • It does not work in streams/feeds
    • It does not work in printing

I started to put together a flowchart-based dungeon generator, but found out that apparently the Mermaid markup does not work for generators (I used the staging version of generators). Would it be feasible to extend this alpha feature also for generators?
 
using the heck out of CL. totally the app i always wanted for rpg notetaking. few features keep coming up for me that i'd like. sorry if they're already on the backlog, and i know i mentioned one before, but i have a spin.

1. deep rename. if i originally put it in as @"watch captain arduous focks" and eventually decided to reorganize and remove titles from names, i'm out of luck when all my links break to @"arduous focks", unless i'm daring to hack json.
2. entry templates. i'd like to spend a little time to whip up a reusable layout of info for, say, a character or location - e.g. name, culture, background, etc - especially if i bother to make it nice to read. a template per entry type sounds like enough to me, but i could already see wanting different types of character templates (pc, npc (monster, ally, nemesis)).
3. fix auto-complete. that feature is so powerful, but there are some annoying bugs, like when it doesn't match a thing that's there, or gives completions that aren't there.
4. create tags on entity create. i think when i add @"new character name" in an entry (any #entity ^type and any %number, like the $"tag-adder"), it'd be great to create that entry when i save, if it didn't already exist. or 2nd-best, i'd like to click on a "dead" link to create the entity. i create an entry with 2 or 5 new tags, and none of them work without taking an automatable step i have to do manually.
5. hotkeys. if they're there i'm not sure what they are.
6. search filter saved items. so cool! but let me delete "test" please.

I'm having problems getting anything to show up. I'm using Brave (Chromium) Version 1.21.76 Chromium: 89.0.4389.86 (Official Build) (64-bit). I've tried to create new campaigns and logs with no luck. I tried to also upload logs that I'd downloaded from the old version, and nothing works with that, either. What could I possibly be doing wrong?

I guess nothing, but maybe your browser is "locked" down too much.
Can you just try a freshly installed Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge - just to be sure that it's a lockdown issue?

Do you know the JavaScript Console of the browser?
Any errors/problems should be logged there.
Hit F12 (on Windows at least, and for Chrome or Firefox) and choose "Console".
Do you see any error messages?
There is also a "Network" tab that might indicate connection issues.

That was apparently what it was. I'd turned off all blocking of cross-site cookies, scripting, and trackers, but I guess that wasn't enough. When I completely disabled the shields, it started working.
 
Update Time:
  • The tag of a newly created campaign entry is immediately available in auto-complete
  • The app provides a short introductory tour for new users
  • Login state is solely based on session state, no false caching - if the app says you are logged in, you are logged in
  • Auto-complete works on every keystroke instead of on every other keystroke
  • We now support the old transformations quiet and indefinite
    • {|I cannot be seen|quiet} results in ""
    • {|nice place to live|indefinite} results in "a nice place to live"

simple/silly vNext question: what is the optimal size to use for the images in the campaign tiles?
I would like to resize mine to that so they speed-load and don't use up any more space than needed
If the optimal size information could be added near the URL entry box that could cue others to pre-size their pictures as well.
 
In my browser, with my settings, it is rendered as 336x189 - it might be different on different devices. It will always be 16:9, though. 400x225 schould work everywhere I would say.

I resized to 336x189 as well - I found the same size stuff in my view page info stuff (eventually).
Works like a champ after a little gimp-fu to crop to aspect and scale ... looks awesome and loads up as fast as possible now rather than causing a massive download and browser rescale.

I'd say 336 x 189 is the winner.
 
Yeah, this is a tough one. I think my expectation that whitespace is inserted is because we press tab to select the autocomplete. As a software dev, i press tab *a lot* and expect it to insert whitespace.

I think im just used to the production version (whitespace gets inserted). Its caught me off guard every time with the preview version. But the preview version does make it easier to write tags like @"NPC"s (without needing to press backspace).

A setting seems like a good compromise.
This will be in the next update.

You should be able to do this right now:

This is on the feature wish list.

This should be fixed now. Can you retest?

There are only those custom hotkeys at the moment:
Ctrl-S: Save without closing entry editor, save and close anywhere else
Ctrl-Enter: Save and close
Ctrl-Shift-F: Focus Search / Filter input

No, I'm connecting via HTTPS.



It doesn't happen 100% of the time, so I'm not sure the exact steps. I'll play around with it today. But this is what happens:

1. Click login on CL
2. Redirected to SSO through campaign-identity
3. Login on CI
4. Redirected to CL. Page says "Redirecting..." and is unresponsive:

5. Close and re-open tab, page is responsive again

I just tried deleting my cookies (through History > Clear > The last hour) and re-logging in 5-6 times and it didn't happen. I then cleared my website data for CL and CI through Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, and it happened.
I recently fixed some login issues. Can you please retest?
