Preview: Campaign Logger vNext (beta access)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Here's a video I made that shows some of the new stuff coming in vNext.

I also made this video to show beta testers the current state to help you navigate around.

I you choose to particpiate in the beta, the link is below and you can log into the beta using your normal Campaign Logger credentials.

We are looking for feedback. Please post your feedback in the thread below. Thanks!

Here's how to access the beta:

Addendum
Some corrections and additional notes:
  • Install App: Offline work is prepared, but not live at the moment. Currently, you just install it to start it directly from your app menu instead of browsing to the web site.
  • The Refresh button is not updating the app but just reloading data from the server - in case you have old data still in your local cache. This will be removed in the future and be an automated background task associated with the above offline feature.
  • Download/Upload: Campaign Entries are currently not included yet but will be in the future
  • Images: there will be an upload function in the future
  • Character Limits: Log Entry 2,500; Campaign Entry: 250,000
Use the New Generator Service
There's a slick new tool for building your custom generators.

Use it as a standalone tool, or to feed dynamic generators into your Campaign Logger vNext account.

Details here: https://campaign-community.com/index.php?threads/preview-generator-service-beta.682/

Update Time:
  • Not yet created campaign entries are shown as "virtual" entries
  • Navigating to a not yet created campaign entry allows the creation of that entry
  • Creating campaign entries from within logs uses correct tag casing for creation
  • Log Entries are sortable by ordering and creation date, ascending and descending

Update Time:
  • Searching/Filtering on the Campaign Entry Listing page
  • Tag Rename Bug in case of empty logs fixed

You'll find the new search box here:

Hello
I hope this can help...
is it normal that the search function checks the content of the entry only and not the tag?
I mean: I have a campaign entry which tag is "Title" but this word never appears in the text of this entry.
When I look for "Title" in the filter field, the campaign entry "Title" is not shown

in the example above, if Eremis doesn't appear in the text of the campaign entry "Eremis" such entry is not retrieved by the search/filter function...

Happy Logging!

I updated my post after we fixed the behaviour. The search is supposed to search in Campaign Entry "Title" as well. That's why now in both, the first and the last screenshot, the "Eremis" entry is shown. You might need to press CTRL-F5 in your browser first (if it's Firefox or Chrome).

Apologies for not reading all entries in this thread (I suspect my question has been answered!)

In the video I watched on YouTube showing the legacy version, the tags were sorted alphabetically and neatly into columns as an option. This option does not seem to exist in the new version. Will it be?

Update Time:

You chose and we delivered!

We are happy to announce our first draft of uploading resources to the Logger Storage aka "Upload Images to Server".

"But how?" you might ask and are right to do so! After pressing CTRL-F5 to reload your Logger tab, and editing a Log Entry, or creating a new one, you will find a new button:
1621693154682.png

Just click it and upload your images (yes, you can select multiple images!) to our server while embedding them at the cursor position of the Log Entry:
1621693564918.png

You can put the image wherever you want inside your Log Entry. Just move the formatter code to the position you want your image to show.

As I said, this is the first draft of the upload feature. The next steps depend on your experience with it and on your feedback!
Right now you can already upload other file types, as well, e.g. PDFs. To select those you have to select "All Files" in the file chooser dialog:
1621693857150.png

After the upload you'll have to remove the leading exclamation mark (!) to create a link to your uploaded resource:
1621694057882.png

What's not there, yet?
- While you can reuse the link of a resource in any Log Entry you want, there's no gallery function to review what you have already uploaded.
- You cannot yet delete uploaded resources.
- The current limit of uploaded files is 1MB. With introducing the delete function we might increase the limit.
- Copy & Paste from various sources as Internet Browser, Windows Explorer, or Clipboard.
- We might improve the support for non-image files.

Happy uploading!

Is the tagging supposed to work in the title? For me it's not. It only works in the canvas boxes.
Also what does "Inline Formatting supported" mean? Bullet points ("- ") aren't working for me, either.

Inline is:
- italic
- bold
- underline
- link
- or: everything that can be part of a line of text

Block is:
- headlines
- lists
- tables
- or: everything that occupies at least a whole line

Update time:

We released some new stuff for you on https://app.campaign-logger.com/. As we did with our Upload Images feature we created a first draft to build upon for another feature:

Labels For Campaign Entries

In this first version you can now add labels to your Campaign Entries and filter them by Labels.

Add Labels to your Campaign Entries
  1. Go to your Campaign Entries Overview:
    1623520885275.png
  2. Next to Labels click the plus button (+):
    1623521240751.png
  3. In the appearing edit box enter your new Label:
    1623521319792.png

Delete Labels
  1. To delete created Labels just hit the cross button (x) next to the label. Be aware there's no confirmation check! But you can always add a deleted Label again:
    1623521454016.png

Search Labels
  1. On the Campaign Entries Overview enter the Label you are looking for:
    1623521716797.png
The Campaign Entries List gets filtered immediately:
    1623521789907.png

Upcoming:

What's next? With the first draft of the Label feature out we shifted our focus back to the Upload Images feature where we are currently working on two things:

Image Gallery
  • Your Image Gallery is coming with big steps! There will be a new button next to the Upload Image button you might already know:1623522473228.png
  • If you click it the Gallery will open showing all images you have ever uploaded (we might add a function to delete uploaded images later ;) ):
    1623522685357.png

Copy & Paste
You will be able to copy your images from various locations and paste them into your Log Entries:
  • From the Gallery just described above
  • From the internet. Just right click on an image, select "Copy Image" and paste it where you need it.
  • From your file explorer on your hard drive

After that we will consolidate the Labels Feature:

Statuses for Campaign Entries
We will expand the just released Label feature to give Labels context. You then will be able to add a Label for example as
  • "class: wizard", "class: fighter",
  • "plot: open", "plot: closed".
With a more sophisticated search function you will be able to filter for all open plot hooks, for finished quests, all NPCs that are fighters. In another thread was a suggestion of visualizing these statuses as a table that you could export as an Excel sheet or CSV.

We're excited to hear from you how you would use this feature!

Hi Rardian,
is the gallery feature available yet?
Because I cannot manage to show the related button, I see only the Upload image button.
Tried both on Chrome and Firefox with logout/login.

I can add a label with the new syntax though.

Happy logging!

Hey @pbianchi, the first post was about the latest update, Labels for Campaign Entries. The second post was a peek into the future. The Gallery is currently in development and will be released soon!

In the future, if you cannot find a new button that we have announced, just hit CTRL-F5 in Firefox or Chrome instead of logging out and logging in!

Happy logging, too! :)
