Preview: Campaign Logger vNext (beta access)

Not open for further replies.
Here's a video I made that shows some of the new stuff coming in vNext.

I also made this video to show beta testers the current state to help you navigate around.

I you choose to particpiate in the beta, the link is below and you can log into the beta using your normal Campaign Logger credentials.

We are looking for feedback. Please post your feedback in the thread below. Thanks!

Here's how to access the beta:

Addendum
Some corrections and additional notes:
  • Install App: Offline work is prepared, but not live at the moment. Currently, you just install it to start it directly from your app menu instead of browsing to the web site.
  • The Refresh button is not updating the app but just reloading data from the server - in case you have old data still in your local cache. This will be removed in the future and be an automated background task associated with the above offline feature.
  • Download/Upload: Campaign Entries are currently not included yet but will be in the future
  • Images: there will be an upload function in the future
  • Character Limits: Log Entry 2,500; Campaign Entry: 250,000
Use the New Generator Service
There's a slick new tool for building your custom generators.

Use it as a standalone tool, or to feed dynamic generators into your Campaign Logger vNext account.

@Khelbiros I only use the beta version now for my campaigns.

The beta is backed up nightly. And you can export your full campaign data anytime, as many times as you want.

The beta version is extremely stable.

We recently had a server outage due to a hosting glitch, and we've switched servers since then. But that affected new and old versions.

I have been using the old campaign logger for some time, and I would like to use the beta for an upcoming campaign, the only thing I an finding frustrating right now is searching for the tags in a more overall view, as an example, I have NPCs that are associated with a organization, thus, I have an ^"Organization" Tag/Campaign Entry, and then a @"NPC" Tag/Campaign that has the ^"Organization" in it as that NPCs affiliated organization. What I would like to do is find all NPCs associated with that organization, I imagine this could be done like the tag filter in the campaign logs, just at the tag level instead. Viewing ^"Organization", see all uses of tag, both in campaign entries and campaign logs?

Apologies if this has been asked already, I tried to look through all the posts, and did not see anything.

New update deployed to Preview!
  • For Legacy and Custom fonts the casing of headlines is now normalized inside and outside of entries.
  • The behavior of Campaign Entry popups has changed:
    • The popup disappears on leaving the tag or the popup boundaries.
    • On clicking inside the popup you can make it stay visible.
    • If the popup stays visible you can scroll all of the content of the Campaign Entry.
  • A bug where some specially arranged markdown brought the parser down has been fixed; we continue to investigate that general issue.

Wow. This is starting to look really good. Have not taken a look in awhile.

The generators - copy to clipboard - can we have optionally immediate copy to open log entry

In the original campaign Logger there were a couple of print options. I didn't fully understand how to utilize them, but the chronological print was better than nothing.

Now with the vNext, there are no print options. I love to type up my notes in Logger, then for game session have a printed copy for my binder. I use Logger like a manual...when I need to. It keeps me spry and thinking on my feet.

Is there any chance for a 'printable' format option? Or printout?

We are actively working on it.

Small Update:
  • Entry editor and preview are now side-by-side instead of one-below-the-other
  • The edit box is now growing with the preview content

Searched around but didn’t see this posted anywhere. On iOS Safari, the scrollable region cuts off at the bottom of the page, making long pages unusable.B070A4A3-3D26-47ED-A0CD-2472F55B2AC1.png

Update time!
  • Campaign Entry:
    • Headlines are placed into a right sidebar
    • Dice and Generators are placed into that sidebar below headlines
    • New Searching/Filtering lists other Campaign Entries with matches
    • New Searching/Filtering lists Logs with number of matching entries
  • Log Entries:
    • Dice and Generators are placed into the right sidebar for single entry pages, too
    • Searching/Filtering now lists Campaign Entries with matches
    • Those campaign entries can be expanded (only one at a time) and their content behaves the same as other inlined entries (for navigational purposes)
  • All pages:
    • Campaign-Log Navigation is placed into a left sidebar
  • Minor fixes, mostly navigational
You might need to clear your browser cache for this to work!

Four spaces in front of a paragraph is causing it to be formatted as monospaced text in a <pre> tag. This is breaking the page formatting because the CSS is set to preserve white-space.

This can be fixed by:
CSS:
.content pre {
    ...
    white-space: pre-wrap;
    ...
}
