When pasting text into a Page or Log Entry, use CTRL+SHIFT+V. This removes all the "escape" formatting imposed by your browser.

You can also paste in images from your clipboard.

On my Windows machine, I use WINDOW KEY+SHIFT+S a lot. That lets me select an area of my screen and put in into my clipboard. Then I CTRL+V into a Page or Log Entry. When you do this, the image also gets added to your Gallery for your file management.

If there's a Mac CL user out there, please comment below on how you can do this on your machine.

I always get a laugh out of Windows cut and paste: Microsoft spent so much effort on a GUI - but then one of the most useful features of the GUI can only be triggered by arcane hotkey combos.

Meanwhile the feared "command line is king" UNIX / Linux world has had 3-button mouse copy/paste since the 80s and 90s ...
left mouse button click and drag is SELECT which automatically copies to clipboard then MIDDLE-CLICK to paste ... and right mouse button is still there for all those drop down context things.

This feature may be finally coming to Windows. I will be looking for how to set it up with the new WSL2 system available in 22H2 and later.
If I can figure it out - I will post back.

I do know that MobaXterm and some other X-windows-on-MS-Windows add-ons can allow mouse-only cut-and-paste within them.

I just want to find out how to do them system-wide on Windows...

@ExileInParadise It also be awesome if Windows also reduced file size during the paste operation. Currently, I use https://tinypng.com which adds extra steps but often cuts my screenshots' file sizes by at least half. But some automation would be nice.

Got WSL2 installed and setup on my work laptop today - have not experimented much with copy-paste yet. But iit initially seems UNIX-y.
Now .. can I extend that to the whole OS ...

I like Ubuntu for WSL2. I just need an x server to be feature complete. Let me know if you find a good one.

I realize this is an older talk, but another option besides WSL2 is running Ubuntu on a VM. The access window is not nearly as good as VMware’s though.

From what i have found, WSL2 is the user-space/application layer of *nix in a Windows VM using a kernel layer/systemcall translator.

What this means?
Use the package manager to sudo install whatever you like ... I installed the Tilix terminal emulator and gnome desktop came with it - probably because its a Debian default.

But, LXDE and XFCE are great lighter-weight desktop environments which run well on things like Raspberry Pi and would probably do we ll in a WSL2 VM.

And, as long as you have an ssh client, you can ssh to another machine, fire off the graphical app there, and tunnel it back over ssh to display on the WSL2 machine.

WSL2$ ssh -X biglinuxdesktop xclock
