John and Jochen,

Thank you. You responded super fast and while we couldn't retrieve my lost data... I very much appreciate the effort.

I believe I may have been extremely frustrated and i'm sure it came out in my responses. I would like to apologize for the negativity. CL is a great product and I am now about 6 or so hours or so into redoing everything. Thankfully, the second time around it is far easier so while some of the details have been changed as my mind is not in the exact same place it was at original creation, the meat and framework are all back in place.. I have even recalled the troops for tomorrows session, which has everyone including me in a better frame of mind.

I am sitll not sure if I am using it correctly but, I think its going to work and I can always try to change it later lol.

Again, thank you and apologies.. I was a bit hard and that isn't fair to you two.. Mistakes, oversights are easily made (including by myself) and you tried to help. I really love CL from what I have used and hope it continues to be my way to keep track of my campaigns.

Happy DMing

Justin, we've all been there at least once - and Johnn and Jochen more than once even with CL.

Unfortunate as it is, you also helped to make CL even better by finding a case/condition that wasn't optimum and triggering a fix.

Thanks for being one of the great folks on the internet who can put themselves in other people's shoes.

And thanks for being the kind of GM who would go this extra mile for their players - investigating tools, prepping and even reprepping pieces as needed ... for the sake of the game.

Great show and I hope your game session goes off stunningly (and I expect it will...)

Thank you @Justin_Giver. This means a lot. Jochen and I both felt terrible about the situation. You cancelling a session because of that was an arrow to the shoulder because the whole point of CL is to help GMs, not hinder them. However, this has gently removed the barb and balmed my spirits today: "I have even recalled the troops for tomorrows session, which has everyone including me in a better frame of mind."

As Exile pointed out, there is a small silver lining: you have helped other game masters. @JochenL and I had a quick debrief last night, and we'd laid out steps to fix this so it does not happen again. We'll be putting in fixes asap.

I use our CL testing server for my Basilica campaign so I can help test and debug new features. As a result, I've made it a habit to backup my campaign often, almost daily sometimes. It's an instant, one-click operation from your Campaigns screen. Just click Download:

I just let the backups accumulate in my Downloads folder - file sizes are small. And even though I have not had a problem in recent times, it gives me peace of mind because the preview server is always being updated with new tests. I recommend that you do this - as often as you want - so that confidence and trust begin to rebuild.

As a follow-up to my iThoughtsHD data loss the other day, I found the bug. I had two instances of the app open on my iPad open via split screen, and iThoughts doesn't seem to like that. I sent a bug report to the developer, Craig. I felt your frustration because I also dislike losing data, time, and effort. But I thought your interactions were always professional. Thank you.

I hope you have fun at the game today!
