StormR

Began gaming from photocopy of the White Box back in '76 my freshman year of high school. I didn't realize it was most likely pirated at the time; I thought that was just how it was formatted. I'd received a couple of other games (a bit more DIY board game style) in the mail with photocopied rulesets so it didn't set off any alarms. It was given to me by a college student (I live/lived in a college town.

I mostly DM'd since the other players were not really willing to invest the time to worldbuild. And I usually had a DMPC in the group (most frequently a half-elf ranger/cleric).

I used mostly this version until the Moldvey edition came out and then later adopted AD&D, which I played until about '86 when I transferred from my station in Germany.

Kind of lost track of the gaming end but kept up with various worldbuilding things to this day, usually in spurts: several weeks or months of intense focus followed by weeks or months of different foci. Kind of an ADHD hyperfocus/shift thing. (Yeah, lots of symptoms but never formally diagnosed.)

My health has been declining the past several years and I'm less able to maintain a full time workload, so more time is opening up to game since I can do it on my schedule as I have the stamina & strength to do it. Dialysis will help improve that over time (recently started) but the ability to work won't likely improve all that much, given the time needed for treatment.

Lately I've spent loads of time on two projects, neither of which are technically worldbuilding. I've gotten into checking other gaming systems, since I like the OSR vibe that reminds me of my gaming history, I've kind of taken on the "requirement" of writing my own system. Simultaneously, I've been working through loads of different systems for digitizing all the loose paper notes, maps, sketches, Pinterest pins, bookmarks, etc in a single place rather than a bajilllion. Did a WorldAnvil paid subscription for a while, but it was a bit too tech oriented even as a former programmer...not that the coding was uberchallenging but totally distracted the creativity when I was in that mode.

still looking though.

And that's waay more than anyone would really want to read.
