Running a modern game, the struggle for modern storytellers

While I did say I enjoy VtM, all of my suggestions are generalized for any modern setting so some suggestions I made wont line up with WoD completely. But in my case I generally run campaigns of fledglings of thin blood, or in the 13th generation, as I like to tell the story of what its like to...

Running a modern game, the struggle for modern storytellers

Your totally right! I could of worded that better. Ultimately when you have real sources it gives you the information to make things believable as they are founded in fact and they aren't going to contradict one another without some sort of reason. The last two presidents for the United States...

Running a modern game, the struggle for modern storytellers

I love fantasy themed roleplaying and am part of many groups were we run DnD, Pathfinder, GURPs in high fantasy, but for me I am mainly a GM for Vampires: the Masquerade which takes part in our modern nights, which has many things I was not prepared for when I first took the dive into the modern...

    Deal Alert

I would like to further highlight the World of Darkness sale, there are some really good PDFs on sale right now, Beckett's Jyhad Diary notability is one of the most extensive resources for vampires, stays true to the corebooks and is told in a stories from "beckett's" view and covers most if...

    City Map Creator

There recently has been a free city map created that showed up on itch.io, it allows you to make cities of different sizes, include or not include regions or key parts of a city. They also allow you to change how the map looks with different colors, as well as actually editing the placement of...

    Generators for non-Fantasy games?

I notice that we kinda went offtopic in regards to what we want in a modern generator, any chance we can split that topic and move those post to it as to not derail RPMiller's post further ^_^

    Generators for non-Fantasy games?

There is two I currently use outside of CL, the first being chaotic shiny's Modern Character which basically gives me a good description of what they look like and what they do for a living, in addition its a nice touch to know what their likes and dislikes are and what their sin and virtues...

I am wondering if the dice roller for CL could be open to this as I havent looked at the web version but the one in the windows app looks to just be a bunch of images of the numbers, any insight into this @JochenL ?

Spark Dice – a story writing tool

I really like the concept behind this, though rather then printing dice out, I saw he was using this site: https://game-icons.net/ and there is a random icon button at the bottom... so you could use that to roll for images without having to print them or overlay them to dice... but really neat...

    Any non-Fantasy games going on?

I run a Vampire: The Masquerade(VtM) campaign which is set in the modern day and use CL for it, alot of the generators dont help much due to them being largely fantasy based, but the logger itself is really good for me to be able to build interconnecting stories and connect all the links (which...

    What Next?

Honestly I am afraid that we are stepping away from the non-web apps completely, and that this thread is going to be used for merit to discontinue the windows and mobile apps. Me: We already have a coffin, feel free to hammer those nails in guys! Others: But the Nails look soo good, that coffin...

    What Next?

Thankfully I have the windows app still, even though its a bit behind, though I find myself using it 80% of the time during sessions rather then the web app.. and really only jumping on to the web app just to "play" with the new features. While I am super excited for campaigning, I had to vote...

    Examples of logger usage

One of the things I like to do with the logger is create intro logs for each of the "objects" whether that be a character, npc, city, unique items, etc it allows me to not clutter my daily logs with information about something and keep the logs for the most part wrote in story fashion while...
