Using mark downs can I link a file into CL like I can a URL?

got some help on discord as below
1. open your browser and type file:///
2. then just click your way to where the file is - now your address bar is the exact path to put in as the file link in your page

This did allow me to then insert the file so my syntax is as follows
[My link](d:/d&d/5e/monsters/coolmonster.pdf)

it renders as
My link

Yet if I then click the link, nothing happens. Is this a bug, something I am doing wrong?

You can try to use file:// instead of https:// but usually browsers don't allow navigation to local files.

Ok, Yeah I tried adding file and the link then no longer looks right in the render and still won't work. No worries.. just wanted to put a few resources in some pages so when I do things I'm reminded of certain tomes of informatoion.. Monsters, lair actions etc. I'll just put the file location.. Its for my prep work and not ingame. just trying to keep it all easily accessible and not forget it.

Thanks Johnn.

A workaround might be cloud file storage and then getting a https link to your file via the storage's Share function.
