Crowdfunding projects

All kinds of interesting, more or less RPG-related crowdfunding campaigns regularly pop up. Let's discuss them in this thread.

My first pick is a project that seems interesting and is something quite new, but still seems sadly doomed to failure:
Dungeons & Dragons AI

Load a character, load opponents, learn the best strategy for the given situation with the power of math. A web app for DnD math.
What if there was a Campaign Logger plugin that could suggest the GM a PC-beating strategy for the selected combat encounter?

The author plans to open source his code, and there is already a demo available at GitHub:

I have never had a problem for finding a PC-beating strategy if I specially wanted to :) Once they almost destroyed the world by almost losing a fight. There was this chaos monster inside an ice block - they melted it down. Found out that that revived the monster and it had nice chaos feature - when you kill it - it appears in duplicate one melee round later - with both of them having the same chaos feature... They did not have any ice magic and just went hacking away for awhile without understanding the situation...

And this was when the death star random encounter happened?

More game mastering advice incoming:

We will be providing a source that is primarily geared for beginner self-publishers. This resource is being designed to provide a small, future adventure design or game company the tools they need to create their first fantasy roleplaying game adventure. BUT, it can most definitely be for ANYONE wishing to improved their craft of adventure building for fun or potential commercial publishing.

We are promised content not only from a guy who sounds suspiciously like a Finnish fat goblin, but also from another who sounds like a Canadian number...

A back a lot of them (read way too many). My conceit is that I'm helping people bring new products to life, in the hope that when I do my project, people will reciprocate.

Currently, I'm backing the following:
Era: The Chosen
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shadesofvengeance/era-the-chosen-a-horror-rpg-defend-our-dimension-0

I've loved his other Era stuff, and he's pretty good about delivering on time, and good value for what he charges. This is a bit outside of what I back him for (more supernatural monsters and such), but I'm in based on prior experiences with his systems.
The Expanse
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1780208966/the-expanse-roleplaying-game

I love the Expanse- the TV series, and the books. This was a no-brainer, but mostly for the background information. I have Fantasy AGE, and don't really like it as a system.
REIGN
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/halmangold/greg-stolzes-reign-second-edition

Another instant back as I loved the first version of REIGN, and played quite a bit of metagame with it for other settings.
And thinking about the following:
Iron Edda Accelerated

Your Best Game Ever

Nights of Payne Town: City of Mists

The Kickstarter for a new edition of the Fifth Edition Traveller is now live:
The original Traveller, many years ago, was three Little Black Books (LBBs) - 48-page black-covered booklets with the titles Characters and Combat, Starships, and Worlds and Adventures. We're formatting this edition as three Big Black Books (BBBs) with the same titles, but 280 pages (Book 1) or more (304 pages for Book 2 and Book 3), and all in a slip case.

Courtney Campbell is doing their first Kickstarter. It’s about characters’ downtime activities.

If you are unsure about the publication, you can immediately get a draft version by pledging 1 USD.

The vote-based stretch goals are a nice touch.
What I hate about the Kickstarter notifications is that if you back at all, you don't get reminders. So I just have that campaign saved for right now, as I don't have time to read the draft. I'd love to download it, read it at my leisure, and get reminded to make a decision as used to be my normal SOP. But it does look like an interesting campaign.

My method is to back a promising campaign, but if I have doubts about the pledge level, I still save the campaign in my favorites list. When I periodically check the list, I see the deadline creeping closer.

Or I could just save the date in my calendar. ;)
