Tip: Sharing Campaigns With Players

Hi @JochenL could you please confirm my understanding of how campaign sharing with players currently works?

First, you go into your Campaign's settings and add a player's email address.

The system do not send out invitations. The GM needs to let their player know that the Campaign has been shared with them.

The player then logs into Campaign Logger. The player can have a free account or paid subscription.

The player will see your shared campaign in the left sidebar, near the bottom in a shared campaigns section:




When the player opens your shared campaign, they will then see:

The Public parts of any Pages you've created and added content to:



Any Logs you've clicked the Share button for:




Note that players cannot yet edit Pages or Logs. This functionality is coming in the future.

Mostly! Changes are not distributed to players automatically at the moment. This will come soon, though. For now, they will have to Sync manually to get the newest version.

Ok, so each time players login or return to their Campaign Logger tab, they should check the top right corner and choose Apply Incoming Changes if there are any:

And then only the shared entries in those logs.

I'm uncertain what you mean. Could you clarify? Is sharing a Log a different procedure than sharing a Log Entry?

Are you talking about the RSS stream for a Log?

Yes. Yes. You share log entries, not logs. As soon as a log entry is shared the log is visible to players. Within the log only the shared entries are visible. The non-shared entries stay hidden.
